Self-Reliance
1. Agriculture
At the time of foundation, infertile barren land was there near the institute which was purchased by the institute by saving small-small amount by observing great austerity keeping future requirement in view. The inmates in institute made this land fertile. Inmates men and women in the institute, children in hostel and volunteers together are more than 200 in numbers. For all of them, food arrangement is done through own agricultural land. Crops required for whole year are produced from this land. Nearby villagers are also encouraged to use advanced agro-techniques by the institute.
2. Horticulture (Fruits/Vegetables)-
In some part of land various vegetables and fruit like cauliflower, brinjal , tomato, lady finger etc. and mango, papaya, lemon, jamun are being produced. Though vegetables are not produced in each season hence purchased from market too. Despite this, this much protection isa big relief for the institute.
3. Cowshed (Gaushala)
Institute runs gaushala not from business point of view but with the aim of cow conservation. In gaushala, death due to old age and new birth are regularly take place at present. At, nearly 160 livestock of all types are available. Cow giving milk are 8 in numbers. Milk produced in institute only. Dung and urine of livestock is used for production of medicine and organic manure.
4. Chalk production
This work is done considering the insensitivity in the limbs of leprosy victim so that they are not damaged further. Leprosy patient are doing this work for their self reliance. Chalk made through this is being sold in nearby schools.
5. Carpet (tat patti production)
Patient without deformity in hands are doing this work. Due to shortage of workers, this work is slow and only tat Patti/asan are being made. Ladies make asan/doormat using old sarees.
6. Welding
Volunteers do this work as per need within the institute. This work is not done for earning money
7. Stitching Centre
Leprosy patients stitch cloths for the inmates of the institute.
8. Organic manure
Alerted by ill effects due to excessive use of chemical fertilizers, organic manure is produced in the institutes. seeing the benefits of organic manure, people in surrounding areas buy it and remaining manure is used in the land of the institute.
9. Gobar Gas
Gobar Gas is made from the cow dung collected in gaushala which saves some fuel consumption in the institute.
10. Kamdhenu Research Centre
Cow urine, parijat extract and 'PanchGavga' based medicines are made for treatment of patient in the institute and also sold outside at low prices.
11. Rope Manufacturing
Based on requirement, inmate used old sets for making bigger ropes, which are used it Gaushala for tying cows and for agriculture related work.
